Do your kids follow you around begging for the pop tabs from your soda cans, your soup cans and even pet food cans? There is a good reason for that – Heathrow Elementary is once again collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida.
Why collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House? Each pop tab is recycled to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald house to help provide a “home away from home” for families of critically ill children when they are hospitalized or receiving treatments in medical facilities. Since 1996, the program has collected more than 197 tons of pop tabs and raised more $210,000 for the local organization.
Why should parents be excited about pop tabs? As a no-cost way to raise funds to help children, collecting pop tabs is a great way to teach students about philanthropy and the importance of recycling. As an added bonus at the end of the year the school from each county that raises the most pop tabs will win a $500 gift card to purchase school supplies. Thank you for supporting Heathrow Elementary School and the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida.
